Alain Jacquet has worked in both contracting and consulting sides of the industry. He has worked on three major water tunnels in KwaZulu-Natal, rehabilitated roads in Mozambique and Botswana, developed company presence for a large South African construction firm in Madagascar. He has also been involved in preparation of procurement documentation as well as the tendering and pricing for major international and local contracts.

He has a passion for the development of small businesses, and has written a code of practice for mentorship that was used by the Department of Public Works in their strategic projects. He has been instrumental in establishing the registration criteria for Professional Construction Mentors who are registered with the SACPCMP. He has also designed and developed training and mentorship monitoring systems for contractor development. He has been intimately involved in the development of the first qualification for a Construction Contractor and has assisted in the editing of the Contractor Entrepreneurial Training Programme in order to align it to the qualification.

He has also been involved in the implementation of Targeted Procurement policies for many public sector bodies and has been responsible for the Department of Public Works' Consultants and Services Rosters, as well as the development of procurement tracking and monitoring software. His involvement in supporting the CIDB has extended to establishing the principles for contractor registration and the implementation of the CIDB Register of Contractors in procurement documentation.

Since 2013, Alain Jacquet has focused primarily on specialist procurement services for the infrastructure sector. He has systematised the procurement processes and procedures, translating these into practical systems. These systems have been converted into a comprehensive online platform, the SABEeX Delivery Management System covering all aspects of procurement including the publication of notices and documentation, procurement administration, and an online tender box, as well as the high level management of contracts and framework contracts.

Alain Jacquet has become a leading NEC practitioner and is an Accredited NEC3 ECC Project Manager. His experience now extends to the procurement of all manner of goods, services, professional services and construction works. A recent focus on procurement has been for various Universities in South Africa, including the newly established Sol Plaatje University and University of Mpumalanga.

He is currently Convenor of the ISO Working Group responsible for the review of the ISO10845 series of Construction Procurement Standards, and is a member of TC1098, the SABS Technical Committee responsible for these standards being adopted in South Africa.

He was elected ICE Country Representative for South Africa from November 2017 and was Vice President of SAICE for 2018 - 2019.
